At Village Decorators we source our large selection of unique handcrafted home and garden décor and fashion accessories directly from artisans working in small, independent shops in villages and communities in Haiti. These artisans create amazing art from whatever they find in their environment; river stones, coconut shells, palm leaves, or even recycled metal oil barrels. Our quality and affordable products are sourced from sometimes remote areas and sold directly to our customers through our convenient, personalized, and secure website. For over four years, our business model has been to build our business while giving back to the artisans’ exposure, promotion, economic activity, and funding support for sustainable programs in their communities. Following the catastrophic earthquake on January 12, 2010, which killed at least 150,000 people and displaced over 300,000, we have channeled a percentage of our sales proceeds to CAH – Comité Artisanal Haitien, (a foundation committed to working with Haitian Artisans for over 30 years), in order to assist artisans and their families to rebuild and open up their workshops again. We believe that if a community is to prosper, then it should be to the local population to strive and achieve its own economic growth - sustainability.
We take this opportunity to invite you to visit our store, and assure you that for all of your purchases at Village Decorators, you will be the proud owner of an original item, while having positively and charitably contributed to the betterment of less fortunate, yet hardworking and creative craftsmen.
Thank you for your business and support.
